*INSTRUMENTS: ADCP-VM 150 kHz, SMART-ACM, AANDERAA RCM and NBA, CTD SBE
911plus with CHELSEA fluorimeter and turbidimeter, SEA TECH scatterometer.
*SUMMARY: Eulerian and lagrangian current measurements both by 10 mooring
arrays of ACM and RCM currentmeters and ship-mounted ADCP current profiles were
collected with the R/V Thetis togheter with CTD casts. Contemporary, in the framework of PRISMA sub-project
"Longitudinal fluxes", four seasonal multidisciplinary cruises (May, August,
November 1995, and February 1996) were conducted with R/V Urania. The main objective was the
study of the seasonal time-scale variability of the water and the biogeochemical
The moored current meters were deployed through four significant transversal sections of the Adriatic
Sea. A basin-wide survey with ship-borrne ADCP was carried out on a continuous
basis from May 1995 to February 1996. 300 CTD stations were covered in the same
period alond the transversal transects.
